Got antsy children? Ready to do something festive – and safe – with your family? Holiday lights are just the thing to get into the holiday spirit while safely explore from (in most cases) the confines of your car.
There are all kinds of festive places well within cheerful driving distance to bring some festive spirit to your friends and family.
Here are a few of our favorites from the elves at RoseLake Estates:
- City of Lights, Kokomo
You can drive or walk thorugh this light extravaganza set up in Kokomo’s Highland Park, 900 W. Deffenbaugh Street, Kokomo, IN. Now through Christmas Day. Especially good for kids to enjoy. Free.
- ‘Indy’s Largest’ Christmas Tree, Indianapolis
Head into downtown Indianapolis to “the circle,” or more correctly, the Soldiers and Sailors monument. Indiana’s ‘tallest Christmas tree’ is strung up with holiday lights – as is the entire tarea around it. A visual and historic treat for all ages. Free.
- Indiana State Fairgrounds (through January 3, 2021). Use the Gate 12 entrance off 42nd Drive the family through this car-friendly magical world from dusk to 10 pm (extended hours on weekends). Tickets available online.
- TPA Park, Frankfort
The light show in downtown Frankfort at TPA Park is always one of the best in Indiana. Check out all of the fun displays this park has in store for this year’s festival at 1 Adrian Marks Drive, Frankfort, IN
- Christmas at the Zoo
Way back in 1967, the Indianapolis Zoo was the first zoo in the nation to hold a holiday lights event. Year after year, Christmas at the Zoo is now a multi-generational family favorite. Downtown Indy on West Washington St. Tickets available on line.
- Fortville Winter Festival, Fortville
This year is the 9th year for this nearby explosion of holiday lights, food, activities, and shopping. Weekends now through early January 2021, Fortville’s Holiday Festival of Lights is a feast for the eyes, whether walking or driving. Free.
Enjoy the season!
